This study examines listening behavior between parents and teenagers. The many physical and psychological changes that occur during adolescence and the changing dynamics of today's families create major variables that impact the listening roles of parents and their teenagers. Self-report responses of teenagers and their parents were analyzed and compared. The results of this study provide a preliminary profile of some of these variables, notably self-perceptions, acceptance, trust, lines of communication, time, topics of discussion, arrd listening behaviors, all of which influence the parent-teen listening relationship."
