Psychological Treatment
A highly successful form of treatment for anxiety disorder is cognitive behavior therapy (CBT). Anxiety is a disorder involving misperceptions of the world around you. The perception of dangers to you and in situations that you are involved in exceeds the actual intensity of the situation. CBT is especially successful for treating anxiety because it works by helping you retrain the way you perceive things emotionally.
The goal of cognitive behavior therapy is to teach you to adjust your thought patterns. Following successful CBT, you will develop a more realistic perception of situations that you encounter, and you will be better able to modulate your feelings of anxiety. You will learn how you have control in many situations. It can help you gain confidence in your ability to cope with people, places, and situations that make you anxious. If you undergo behavior therapy, your therapist may use a variety of techniques to help you modify your behavior patterns. Again, the goal is to assist you in learning behaviors that will permit you to be in situations that previously prompted your anxiety symptoms.

When this happens, it may be prudent to request a brief personal leave. Romantic Feelings of Teens: A Natural Process
Teens face strong pressures to date, as well as get involved in a romantic relationship1. A romantic relationship is one that invloves feelings of attraction--physical and friendship. In fact, over half of teens in the United States report dating regularly (casual dates with one or more partners at different times) whereas a third claim to have a steady dating (exclusive) partner2. Young teens usually hang out with peers who are the same gender as they are. As they reach the mid-teen years (age 14-15 years), they start having relationships with peers of the opposite sex3. Such relationships are likely to be friendships and/or physical attractions. Although most romantic relationships among 12- to 14-year-olds last less than 5 months, by age 16 relationships last an average of 2 years4. Western society is consuming ever larger quantities of prescription drugs and many of these are for psychiatric complaints. Drugs are central to modern psychiatric practice and to much psychiatric thought about the nature and causation of mental disorders. Psychiatry has therefore become an important target for the large and powerful pharmaceutical industry. Drug companies direct lavish advertising and hospitality towards psychiatrists and provide funding for much medical education and some mental health service initiatives. The industry is now heavily involved in the organisation of research into psychiatric drugs and the dissemination of research findings. This raises questions about the scientific objectivity of this research and the extent to which the industry is able to shape the research agenda. Drug companies also provide funds for pro drug patient and carer groups and address advertising or disease promotion campaign"

1) The past two years have witnessed extraordinary regulatory ferment in the area of conflicts of interest involving physicians, especially conflicts arising in relationships with the pharmaceutical industry. Professional regulatory bodies, the pharmaceutical industry, and the government have all decided that physicians and drug manufacturers need stronger advice about appropriate relationships. In 2002, three leading professional organizations -- the American Medical Association,[1] the American College of Physicians,[2] and the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education[3] -- issued or revamped guidelines regarding physicians' interactions with drug companies. Spinello discusses the merits of both free market and government regulated drug pricing, concluding that each approach has insurmountable problems associated with it: government regulated pricing is self-defeating, and the free market model allows prices to rise to an unreasonable level. Instead, Spinello proposes that pharmaceutical companies adopt a Rawlsian theory of distributive justice. By adopting this theory, life-saving drugs would be considered equal to “primary social goods” that ought to be afforded to every person. Thus, the ethically minded corporation should try to fairly distribute life-saving drugs at a reasonable cost, while still maintaining reasonable profits. Spinello further introduces a model that serves as a guide for pharmaceutical companies to help determine the just distribution of life-saving and non-life-saving drugs."

When people find themselves suddenly in danger, sometimes they are overcome with feelings of fear, helplessness, or horror. These events are called traumatic experiences. Some common traumatic experiences include being physically attacked, being in a serious accident, being in combat, being sexually assaulted, and being in a fire or a disaster like a hurricane or a tornado. After traumatic experiences, people may have problems that they didn't have before the event. If these problems are severe and the survivor does not get help for them, they can begin to cause problems in the survivor's family. This fact sheet explains how traumas can affect those who experience them. This fact sheet also describes family members' reactions to the traumatic event and to the trauma survivor's symptoms and behaviors. Finally, suggestions are made about what a survivor and his or her family can do to get help for PTSD."
